My passion for helping women with their birth experience started after the birth of my son.
After many unnecessary interventions during labor, which resulted in a c-section, I knew
that there had to be a better way, that something had to be done to help women through
what seemed to be so natural. I started researching everything I could get my hands on.
This was my calling, helping women and babies come into this world on
their terms.

A woman carries her birth experience with her for the rest of her life, and I wanted to
make sure that she was armed and ready to make well informed decisions about her body
and her baby . My role as a birth doula is to honor and serve what a mother feels would
benefit her the most. I feel that my willingness to do this
non-judgmentally still remains the
greatest service that I can provide my clients as a doula and as an educator. At my heart,
and in my practice, I strive to balance this priority with my own philosophies toward
birthing and parenting.

In October of 2010 I was blessed to give birth to our daughter Evangélina in our home.
Not only did I successfully have a VBAC, but naturally, and in my own house surrounded
by the people I loved and trusted.
I have been a birth doula for five years, having assisted with
over 30 births, as well as experiencing both a csection and a
natural home birth, I bring my education and experience to my
classes and client services.

I received my training through Birth Arts International
(www.birtharts.com). I am also a trained HypnoDoula through
Hypnobabies
www.hypnobabies.com.

I have currently started my Midwifery Apprenticeship with
Riverside Midwifery, LLC. I am also the Vice President of
Maryland Families for Safe Birth, a non profit consumer group
working to get Certified Professional Midwives legalized in the
state of Maryland
.
